10 Underrated Marvel Movies That Deserve Another Chance
2. The Amazing Spider-Man
Unlike its aforementioned successor, The Amazing Spider-Man is easily one of the best Spidey films in existence. So much so that the fact it's been lambasted by fans as much as it has is genuinely baffling. The main gripe seems to be that a Spider-Man reboot only half a decade following the original trilogy felt "unnecessary".
However, while Sam Raimi's first two Spider-Man movies were great, the third was terrible and a hard reset was exactly what the franchise needed. This film not only gave us that, but did so in a quality way (that also single-handedly redeemed Gwen Stacy after Spider-Man 3 ruined her.)
This was also the first film to truly capture Peter Parker's sarcastic sense of humor that he is known and loved for in the comics, something that was noticeably absent in the Raimi films.
There were also some great action scenes, the redesigned Spider-Man suit looked awesome, the web-shooters were another welcomed element from the comics, and finally seeing the Lizard on the big screen certainly didn't hurt. Plus, once again, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone make for fantastic leads who carry the film like no one else could.
And while Spidey is now back home at Marvel with two great MCU appearances under his belt, that doesn't mean that this film should be overlooked.
