10 Underrated Movies (That Were Just Misunderstood)

7. Sorority Row

What makes Sorority Row so damn entertaining because it aims for funny and gory above all else. It's not meant to be taken seriously as a horror movie, but as a bloody romp through teen infected waters. The bitchy one-liners and smart dialogue make it stand out from the pack, and it's definitely one that you shouldn't judge by its genre.

Granted, it's a storyline that has been done countless times before, but don't let that put you off seeing Sorority Row. The main actresses in the movie hold it together with snappy quips, and a really bad sense of humour, but that really isn't a criticism. In this film, it works wonderfully in its favour, and there will be parts in which you find yourself spilling a laugh or two.

One of the main and repeated criticisms of Sorority Row is that it doesn't break any new ground in the horror movie genre, and it's interesting because it's true. Sorority Row doesn't make you think of horror any differently but that isn't the point of this film. It wasn't made to stab a fresh new hole in the horror universe, instead it openly mocks those cliques that appear so often in these types of movies.

At one point in the film, one of the girls is showering, she hears a strange noise and responds with "Hello is anybody there, maybe a guy with a hook and trench coat waiting to kill me?" It's that type of self-awareness that is entertaining, clever and endearing as hell.

Go and immerse yourself in the sorority, but don't participate in the pranks.

Emma Tucker hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
