10 Underrated Movies With Jaw-Dropping Ensemble Casts

10. The Outsiders

You know how some movies feature a final scene that freeze frames each character and gives you a brief description of what they go on to do in the future? There should be a revised version of The Outsiders that has that same thing for every actor who played a Greaser in the 1983 classic. Because outside of a typical Brat Pack movie, you'd be hard-pressed to find a film from the 80s with this much star power bubbling under the surface. There wasn't a guy in the principal cast who didn't become wildly famous at one point or another. C. Thomas Howell (Ponyboy), for instance, went on to utterly dominate the 80s, appearing in what felt like every movie that decade. Matt Dillon (Dallas) became a household name thanks to his diverse turns in comedies, dramas, and even erotic thrillers. Rob Lowe (Sodapop) and Patrick Swayze (Darrel) became the biggest heartthrobs in Hollywood (Lowe doing so once again very recently). Ralph Macchio (Johnny) and Emilio Estevez (Two-Bit) became The Karate Kid and Billy The Kid, respectively, with Estevez later blooming as a Disney fan favourite. And Tom Cruise (Steve) just happened to become the biggest movie star in the world at various stages in his career, while Diane Lane (Cherry Valance) has become one of the most respected actresses of her generation. Oh, Tom Waits and Flea were also there, and they remain badass to this day. So yeah, not too shabby for a bunch of unknowns.
