10 Underrated Movies With Jaw-Dropping Ensemble Casts

9. Ocean's Thirteen

Perhaps this is a bit of cheat since, after all, the Ocean's franchise is pretty well known for its luminous cast and enjoyable crime capers. Still, the third instalment excels at supplementing its roster with another titan. The recurring cast of mega-stars is present (except Julia Roberts, who bowed out after the stinker of a sequel). Clooney, Pitt, and Damon all seem pretty revitalised in their roles, while the other members of the gang (Elliott Gould, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Bernie Mac, Shaobo Qin, Eddie Jemison and Carl Reiner) mostly get to play around in their character parts a little more. But the real breath of fresh air comes from Al Pacino, which is a sentence you probably never expected to see. This is one of those rare instances where Pacino's over-the-top madman fits in perfectly, because the tone is so loose and genial. He's basically a Bond villain in Vegas, and that alone is worth watching. And it doesn't hurt that Eddie Izzard, Vincent Cassel, and Andy Garcia all return to the fold as well, with varying degrees of evolution from their previous appearances.
