10 Underrated Movies With Star Trek Actors
1. Green Room - Anton Yelchin And Patrick Stewart
The only film on this list to feature two Star Trek alum, Jeremy Saulnier's Green Room is a taut and terrifying thriller that features superb against-type performances from the late Anton Yelchin and Patrick Stewart.
Both actors are known for their considerable contributions to Star Trek lore in different incarnations, which makes their turns in the 2015 thriller all the more impressive and spine-chilling. Yelchin plays Pat, a bassist in a punk rock band that inadvertently finds itself as the opening act of a Neo-Nazi metal band.
As expected, things go horribly awry once they encounter a group of skinheads led by Stewart's Darcy and the film devolves into a gripping but disturbing fight for survival by the unsuspecting band.
Saulnier's direction expertly captures and displays the film's uncomfortable subject matter through grimy visuals, disorienting gore, and intense performances from the cast. The latter is elevated by Stewart's intimidating performance that shows new layers to the thespian's talents as well as Yelchin's appropriately fearful portrayal, showcasing the potential of an actor who was taken from us too soon.
