10 Underrated Movies With Star Trek Actors
2. The Finest Hours - Chris Pine
Chris Pine has enjoyed a fairly successful career due to his appearances as Captain Kirk in the newer Star Trek films as well as Steve Trevor in the DCEU. His role in the former franchise is especially notable, especially due to how beloved William Shatner's iteration of the character is by fans.
The actor has enjoyed success in other films outside of franchise fare, and they have acted as excellent vehicles to showcase his talent. One of these films is The Finest Hours, a thriller based on a gripping true-life rescue of the crew of the SS Pendleton following a freak cyclone in 1952.
Pine stars as Bernie Webber, a crewman whose daring efforts during the ship's splitting helped save dozens of his fellow sailors. He is ably supported by a strong cast featuring the likes of Eric Bana, Ben Foster, and Casey Affleck as well as an earnest tone and reverence for the story being told.
The film received mixed reviews and disappointing box office receipts upon release but has grown in recent years to be a competent and suitably thrilling depiction of rousing heroism in the face of adversity.
