10 More Underrated Sci-Fi Films You Need To Love

2. Dredd

If you were one of the very few who managed to see Dredd in theaters than congratulations practically no one else did. If you are a fan who is still hoping that somehow in spite of things a sequel is coming than I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it's time to let it go. The R rated reboot of the comic book series Judge Dredd was the biggest box office flop of 2012. It barely took in 2/3 of its production budget worldwide ensuring no sequel is in its near future unless everyone and their brother goes out and buys the movie tomorrow on DVD. Not likely to happen and even then the sequel we would get would probably be a low budget, straight to video, piece of garbage. The truth sucks sometimes. Better to enjoy the stand alone film we got for all its worth. Despite a terrible marketing campaign, which decided the film should have 3D at the end of the title and be released almost exclusively in 3D, the movie itself was great. Fans of the comics will definitely appreciate its faithfulness to the source material and grit. People looking for ballsy, bone shattering sci-fi can stop searching; Dredd is the answer. People looking for something just as ballsy, but a little more classic please continue to number 1.
