10 Underrated Sci-Fi Sequels (That Deserve Way More Love)
5. The Lost World: Jurassic Park
While The Lost World: Jurassic Park found itself on the wrong end of mixed and negative reviews, the truth is that it was fighting an uphill battle long before it ever hit movie theaters.
Jurassic Park reinvented cinema with its jaw-dropping special effects and told Michael Crichton's engaging story in a whole new way, breaking box office records in the process - and there was simply no way that its 1997 sequel could ever hope to recreate that success, much less exceed it.
Now that we're over two decades removed from its release, maybe we can stop hating it for failing to do the impossible and start appreciating it for what it is. 'Well what is it?' you may ask, and the answer to that question is actually quite simple.
A thoroughly enjoyable thrill-ride that manages to produce just as many impressive visuals as its predecessor, The Lost World's story may not be the most engaging offering in the Jurassic Park franchise but it's a unique one that tries something different and ultimately succeeds in doing so. Sure, it might take a while getting there, but the final act in the city is undoubtedly worth it and it once again nails its mission to be ridiculously fun familial-viewing.
