10 Underrated Zombie Horror Movies You Probably Haven’t Seen

As unfair as it is to hear, there are times when the most original and imaginative zombie features struggle to get noticed. But thanks to the camaraderie and passion of the horror community, many undead movies that initially went under the radar like Dead Snow 2, Night of the Creeps, and One Cut of the Dead eventually found their audience.

Now the shambling revenants have infiltrated every form of media, more and more stories in the genre have received the attention they should've gotten in the first place.

And yet, there are still plenty more ghoulish movies to uncover. Due to a lack of advertising, a poor box-office return, or a limited release, the flesh-eating entries on this list fell off the map. Even though obscure zombie flicks like Life After Beth and The Odd Family are bursting at the seams with creativity, they came and went with little fanfare. For that reason, now is the perfect time to bring this zombified bunch back from the dead.

So, if any horror veterans are on the lookout for lesser-known zombie films, these forgotten features are dying to be discovered. 

Anyone who's a fan of Aubrey Plaza should check out one of her more obscure films, Life After Beth. In the dark comedy, Zach (Dane DeHaan) is heartbroken when his girlfriend, Beth (Aubrey Plaza) dies from a snake bite.

When Beth shows up soon after no worse for wear, Zach believes it's a miracle. But when she starts to behave erratically and eat the occasional person, Zach realises things were better when she was dead.

Rather than becoming a bloodthirsty monster straight away, Beth's transition is gradual, making it funnier and more tragic when she embraces her primal urges. The conflict between Zach and Beth's parents is riveting, since they refuse to tell their daughter she died, nor do they want anyone to know she's alive again. The fact Beth maintains her personality and ability to speak after she's resurrected makes the dynamic between the characters more compelling.

The fast-paced and sharply written horror-comedy is elevated further by the marvellous cast, which includes John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Paul Reiser, Cheryl Hines, Rob Delaney, Anna Kendrick, and Jim O' Heir.

Despite the fact Plaza is renowned for playing unhinged characters, this might be the Parks + Rec actress at her most diabolical.
