10 Unintentionally Funny Moments In Harry Potter

Despite the terrific duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore, the end of The Order of the Phoenix is slightly marred when Harry is momentarily possessed.

In fairness, this moment works well at first. Harry’s grimaces and the snippets of his worst memories are certainly effective. However, the frequent flashes of Voldemort’s bizarre facial expressions give this scene a comedic tone that’s completely averse to the sombre music and Harry’s physical and mental agony.

There’s also no getting from the fact the dialogue is very cheesy. Harry’s talk of ‘friendship’ and ‘love’ has no subtlety whatsoever. Indeed, this scene would have been much more powerful without dialogue.

As amusing as this moment can be – particularly with repeated viewings – it’s also a shame it couldn’t maintain the standard of the rest of the finale.
