10 Unintentionally Funny Moments In Star Wars
8. “From My Point Of View, The Jedi Are Evil!”
The prequel trilogy isn’t exactly known for the light
touch of its dialogue, and by the time the third flick’s release date rolled
around in mid-2005 we had all come to begrudgingly accept that there would be
fewer “boring conversation anyway” quips and far more “I hate sand” style
pointless faux deep non-sequitors.
So with the bar dropped after a pair of underwhelming instalments and expectations necessarily lowered, what kind of clunker would still manage to provoke gales of hilarity in multiplexes the world over? Well, the clumsy statement “from my point of view, the Jedi are evil” would just about do it.
Everything from the line’s overwrought delivery to its painfully on-the-nose message were misjudged, and Anakin may have been better off with something more subtle along the lines of “Hey, did you know even the Nazis thought they were the good guys? Perspective, man, it’s wild.”
