10 Unintentionally Hilarious Horror Movies
7. Hellraiser from III onwards
The Hellraiser series - based on the books by Clive Barker - started as an incredibly horrifying franchise. Its excessive twisted imagery and compelling lead villain Pinhead gave it a strong identity in a somewhat saturated horror market. The first film was great, the second one was mostly more of the same, but then after the peculiar outing of Hellraiser 3, things got weird.
We soon started to get awful outings like Inferno and Revelations which did nothing but water down the Cenobites. Things really began to go downhill in the club massacre from the third film. It was full of over the top goofy acting, some unbelievably stupid deaths and ill-achieved POV shots. This was only made worse by the creation of a DJ Cenobite who threw CDs at people. The scene and creature was ridiculously goofy and not scary.
Finally, pictured above are the twins from Bloodlines. This is essentially the Hellraiser legacy. We started with great sadomasochistic, painful-looking creatures but eventually got absurdly bad effects pairing two people together because they are twins. The nuance was gone, and everything left was just hilarious.
