8. Michael Douglas - Falling Down
Learn more at the Gaming Wiki Falling Down is an excellent film, in fact, an uncommonly masterful one from Joel Schumacher, but its ending certainly raises its fair share of cackles whenever I watch it. Michael Douglas' brilliant stand-off scene with Robert Duvall ends in ironic fashion; Douglas' D-Fens pulls a gun, so Duvall's retiring cop shoots him, before we see that all along, D-Fens just had a harmless water pistol in his pocket, committing suicide-by-cop so that his daughter will be able to collect the insurance. Douglas quips, "I wouldda gotcha!", which is of course supposed to be funny, but it gets unintentionally amusing once Douglas falls over the edge of the pier, performing a technically sublime backflip that simply seems too neat for a gritty, grimy film like this. The fact that he playfully squeezes the trigger of the water pistol as he falls overboard - listen for the squeak - only adds to the amusement. Still, it's a fantastic ending to a brilliant film, and does little to detract from its genuine power, as well as Douglas and Duvall's outstanding performances.
