6. Robin Williams - Hagrid (Harry Potter Series)
What? Robin Williams? Hagrid? Harry Potter? Yup. Back at a time where anything was possible and Harry Potter wasn't quite as big as it is now (it was still big, though), Warner Bros. thought they had found the perfect man to play friendly giant Hagrid in J.K. Rowling's series of boy wizard adventures: Robin Williams. Don't get me wrong: I love Robin Williams. He's a great actor both dramatic and comical heights. He kills as the Genie in
Aladdin. He's wonderful in
Good Will Hunting. And yet this was such a terrible idea, it truly fathoms the mind. I mean, Williams' presence in a Harry Potter movie would've been near disastrous, wouldn't it? He just isn't an actor who fits naturally into Rowling's world. Imagine if they would've had him doing any kind of British accent. Not to mention how bizarre Williams would look dressed up as a giant. Thankfully Rowling later decided that she only wanted British actors in Harry Potter, and the idea to cast Mrs. Doubtfire was scrapped. Was
this the reason she suggested British actors in the first place? Still, one glimpse of that
Jumanji beard, and it all starts to make sense...
