10 Unlikely Film Cameos From Punk & Nu-Metal Musicians

3. Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong - This Is 40

Green Day made the cameo of all cameos in The Simpsons Movie when they performed the iconic intro for television's favourite family before sinking on a nautical stage, but let's dive a little deeper and get an actual in-person cameo rather than an animated one.

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong has several acting credits to his name, and may be the only star on the list to feature on Broadway. As well as featuring as St Jimmy in the Broadway production of American Idiot: The Musical, Armstrong has starred in Ordinary World, and popped up in Nurse Jackie, Drunk History, and Like Sunday, Like Rain.

However, it's his cameo in Judd Apatow's 'This Is 40' that stole the show when Armstrong tells Chris O'Dowd, "shut the f*** up, Tom Selleck" as the IT Crowd star bothers the Green Day man while trying to watch a show.

Billie Joe pops up again to have a brief interaction with the film's star Paul Rudd but, sadly, a deleted scene where the iconic frontman pitches an anonymous side project of "Norwegian death metal mixed with Belle and Sebastian" didn't make the final cut.
