10 Unlikely Movie Sequels That Were Surprisingly Awesome

7. Men in Black III

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyaFEBI_L24 Men in Black II is largely considered to be a thoroughly mediocre follow-up to the original classic, such that many doubted if a third Men in Black film would ever get made. The idea had been languishing around for years before production began, and boy, were the odds stacked against it or what. Not only was it the first entry in the series in a decade, not only did the last movie suck, but the budget also ran over constantly and production had to be shut down because the third act had to be re-written at one stage. Men in Black III, it seemed, was a failure. Colour me completely surprised, then, when MIB3, if still not a patch on the original, was a massive improvement over the second film, bringing Will Smith back in enthusiastic form for his first hit in years, and though Tommy Lee Jones isn't in it enough, Josh Brolin is a fantastically chameleonic replacement as his younger equivalent. The time travel storyline also allows for a surprisingly emotional climax that rounds the franchise off in stellar fashion. It's a shame, then, that a fourth film has already been green-lighted.
