10 Unlikely Movie Sequels That Were Surprisingly Awesome

3. 28 Weeks Later

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr1Kwfyf22s Danny Boyle's visceral, low-fi apocalyptic horror flick 28 Days Later is one of the best films of its type in the 21st century so far. Not only is it superbly acted and immensely economic, it probes deep into the psyche of its characters, who largely find themselves going off the deep-end as everyone around them becomes infected with Rage, a disease that turns the victim into a crazed, feral shell of a human being. When it was announced that 28 Weeks Later was going into production without Danny Boyle or any of the original cast, expectations were naturally at an all-time low. Oh, how surprised we were, then, that thanks to punchy direction, excellent performances and location shooting that's a blast for any Londoner to behold, 28 Weeks Later was a more than worthy follow-up. If more outlandish and less intelligent than the first film, it still delivered gory thrills in abundance, and actually made us want to see 28 Months Later, which is apparently going to go into production sometime in the future (hopefully).
