10 Unluckiest MCU Characters

7. Clint Barton

Jeremy Renner Hawkeye
Marvel Comics

When Thanos snapped his fingers and eliminated half of all life in the universe, it was inevitable that everyone would lose at least someone they loved. Some would lose more than others, but if you somehow managed to still have everyone important to you alive, it would have been like winning the lottery.

At the other end of the spectrum is losing everyone that was important to you. This happened to Clint Barton. He wasn’t a part of the fight against Thanos, yet he still managed to lose. His wife died, as did all three of his children, leaving him with absolutely nothing.

The law of averages would surely have allowed most people to still have at least someone in their life left, but Clint lost everything and turned to a life of criminal vigilantism as the Ronin. He did things he wasn’t proud of, and made himself some powerful enemies.

So hard were those five years on Clint that he really tried to sacrifice himself for the Soul Stone. His own death would have been something of a relief for Clint, and though he was able to be reunited with his family eventually, nothing can erase those torturous memories of outliving his children and being without them for five long years.
