Proving that it isn't just the folks behind-the-scenes who are dedicated to repurposing defunct items into much more useful tools within the Star Wars sphere, none other than Luke Skywalker himself got in on the recycling fun during Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi.

Upon touching down on Ahch-To and trying to convince Mark Hamill's legendary Jedi to join the Resistance fight, Daisy Ridley's Rey discovers the broken Master's hut on the planet; a home that is sporting a rather familiar door, as it goes.

That's because, as revealed in Episode VIII's Visionary Dictionary, it turns out that this door panel is actually made up of salvaged S-foil from Skywalker's old T-65 X-wing that fans eventually witness being lifted out of the water by Luke in Rise of Skywalker.

And for those wondering how Rey was able to safely pilot said stripped ship in Episode IX after Luke's door-making adjustments, Rise of Skywalker's novelisation attempted to paper over said plot hole by noting how Rey's scavenging skills came in handy in the end:

“It was old tech, and it had taken some fast thinking and even faster fingers to get it flight worthy - the wing patched with the door to Luke’s hut, shield panels scavenged from the TIE wreckage, and a hefty amount of rewiring.”
