Much as Evil Dead 2013's Mia (Jane Levy) made for a likeable heroine and more-than-fitting substitute for Bruce Campbell's Ash, the remake's grim alternate ending sounds hella fun too.

In the theatrical cut, Mia defeats her demonic doppelganger and lives to fight another day, but a bleaker, bloodier alternate ending shot by director Fede Álvarez sounds positively insane.

Álvarez told Bloody Disgusting that the remake originally ended similar to the very first Evil Dead movie, with Mia being attacked by another demonic entity at the last minute.

But in a twist, this version of the ending would go further than the original, with Mia being levitated into the air and exploding like, in his words, a "bomb of blood."

Álvarez revealed that he cut this ending after original Evil Dead director Sam Raimi suggested that Mia deserved to live given everything she'd been through.

Álvarez also shared a brief snippet of the ending - where Mia is attacked from a first-person perspective - though it's fair to assume that the "bomb of blood" portion never went through post-production, if filming was even completed on it.

All the same, it sounds absolutely wild, and given that Mia seems unlikely to return to the Evil Dead franchise at this point, it'd be neat to see what almost became of her.
