10 Unused Villains For DC Movies (And Who Should Play Them)

6. Atrocitus (Jon Hamm)

The previous Green Lantern movie had the fear-feeding big yellow entity Parallax as its main baddie, and also introduced Sinestro as a sequel-teasing villain in waiting. The new Green Lantern movie €“ said to be going by the title Green Latern Corps €“ will surely be aiming to tread very different ground to its flop of a predecessor. They could do a lot worse than introducing Atrocitus, a vengeful alien who formed a terrorist cabal and vowed to destroy the Guardians of the Universe (and thus the Green Lantern Corps) after their robotic creations €“ the deadly Manhunters - killed his wife, children and all-but-five people from his home world. Atrocitus and his cabal €“ The Five Inversions €“ were later incarcerated for trying to bring down the Guardians of the Universe. Atrocitus escaped, terrorised Earth on his own, and eventually had something of change of heart about evildoing (he formed the rage-themed antihero agency Red Lantern Corps). You€™d need an actor who could portray an utterly unhinged character but later show a glimmer of heroic capabilities lurking underneath. Mad Men€™s Jon Hamm could definitely play an antihero, but he€™d need to rise to the challenge of bulking up, acting under CGI enhancements and truly letting loose to properly capture Atrocitus. We think he€™s got it in him.
