10 Unused X-Men Villains MCU Phase 4 Could Introduce
New Mutants? How about some New Villains? We've seen plenty of Magneto and Dark Phoenix.
We're finally getting "The New Mutants" movie that has been on ice for a couple years now. Technically, it will be the first MCU film to introduce audiences to mutants. How that movie will fit in...thats's for another article.
Nothing has been announced yet as far as for when we'll actually get that first MCU X-Men movie. We could speculate on which heroes will be rebooted to make their first MCU appearance. But today, we're going to look ahead at how Disney/Marvel can start utilizing some of the recently acquired baddies at their disposal.
Marvel will need to try something unexpected to set their version far apart from what came in the very recent mutant past. Magneto (played magnificently by both Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender) has been heavily featured in just about every mutant movie that Fox released. You might even be feeling a bit of fatigue at seeing the character. The same goes for Mystique.
Let's see some fresh faces with new motivations, and how the MCU could start incorporating these unused, powerful villains into upcoming films...
10. Cyber
Who? Silas Burr is an artificially enhanced mutant. He's got the classic super-strength and has the ability to track individual brainwaves.
The big story here is that the skin on his body (minus his face) has been bonded to adamantium! X-Men fans will recognize this right away as the metal that coats Wolverine's claws and skeleton. So that means the MCU gets to introduce a new metal as well as mutants.
Since claws seem to come included in the bag when you get an adamantium upgrade, you can bet Cyber has got those too. His claws come with toxins as an added bonus!
How he fits in the MCU: Cyber has a backstory that stretches into WW1. If Kevin Feige chooses to cannon-correct as if mutants have always been in the MCU, then you start there and possibly do some foreshadowing to the introduction to Wolverine, as he was Logan's superior officer in the military. Otherwise, the MCU could start with a story-line that has the scientist who discovers adamantium in present-day and the shady experiments that go into creating characters such as Cyber, Sabertooth, Lady Deathstrike, and yes...all roads lead to Wolverine.
Cyber gives the MCU an alternate to Sabertooth (who we've seen twice already) as a main foil for Logan. In the comics, he handed Wolverine one of his most severe beatings. Starting there will let audiences know that Cyber is no push-over.
