10 Upcoming 2015 Movies That Won't Make Their Money Back

5. Chappie

Without a doubt, Chappie - directed by District 9's Neill Blomkamp - looks like one of the weirdest, oddest, strangest movies to have come this way in a long time. On the surface, it looks like just another "robot learns to be human" films in the vein of Short Circuit. But then there's the fact that the titular robot - Chappie - is played by Sharlto Copley, whilst two of the main characters are played by members of a South African rap group. Then there's the little matter of Hugh Jackman as the bad guy, whilst Dev Patel and Sigourney Weaver have clearly been brought in to ensure totally and utter bizarreness. So whilst Chappie might turn out to be an oddity of the best kind, it's not entirely clear how successful it will be at the box office. Given the technical nature of the plot, Chappie's budget was presumably a big one - the SFX glimpsed in the trailer look like they cost $10 million dollars alone, after all. But will Chappie - with its weird tone and odd casting - lure people into the theatres? Or was the noticeably off-kilt trailer enough to put people off? Can't see this one being a massive blockbuster, come release day. Can you?
