10 Upcoming 2016 Movies You Should Really Give The Benefit Of The Doubt

7. Pixar Trailers Are Rarely Great - Finding Dory

Release Date: June 17, 2016

Browse the comments section for the Finding Dory trailers on YouTube and you'll notice that most of them have one thing in common: they're really down on the movie.

It's not that surprising, really, given that the Finding Dory teaser was just about the most uninspired piece of marketing ever conceived, and the next official trailer didn't do much to sell the idea of a Finding Nemo sequel to fans. So, no, Finding Dory doesn't look like a sure-fire classic waiting to happen and the marketing thus far has failed in its attempts to make the film look like something you'd want to rush out to see.

That said, we must remember the Pixar Trailer Curse before we decide that Finding Dory is going to fail miserably. Said curse pretty much denotes that, if a trailer for a Pixar movie is good, the film itself won't be all that great (Brave); it also says that, should the trailer feel relatively lacking, the film will turn out to be amazing (Toy Story 3, Inside Out).

Finding Dory falls into the latter camp. Chances are that Pixar are playing the long game with this sequel; they're saving the good material for the actual film, because people are going to go and see it anyway. Patience is a virtue; Andrew Stanton will deliver (hopefully).
