10 Upcoming 2016 Movies You Should Really Give The Benefit Of The Doubt
4. Even Simon Pegg Didn't Like The Trailer - Star Trek Beyond
Release Date: July 22, 2016The trailers for Star Trek Beyond thus far have been pretty damn awful, showcasing a freewheeling, comically-inclined sci-fi farce that appears to take itself less seriously than Trey Parker and Matt Stone at the 2000 Oscars ceremony (look it up).
Which means that the collective fanbase have already lambasted this movie into submission. But even Simon Pegg, who co-wrote the movie, came forward to say that he wasn't happy with the way that the studio were marketing Star Trek Beyond. "I didn't love it," he said, referring to the trailer, "because I know there's a lot more to the film. There's a lot more story, a lot more character stuff, and a lot more Star Trek stuff."
Pegg has been part of this franchise since the beginning, of course, and so more than anyone - save for J.J. Abrams - he probably knows what a Star Trek movie in this series needs to involve. His words are encouraging, then, because he's literally saying that the movie depicted in the trailer isn't the movie we'll ultimately see.
So don't get in a state just yet, and definitely don't judge Star Trek Beyond by its cover.
