6. 47 Ronin (Dec 20)
Budget: $175 million
Predicted Box Office: $80 million
Why It's Going To Bomb: There is no film I have more confidence in being a colossal bomb in the foreseeable future than 47 Ronin, the 3D samurai film starring Keanu Reeves that hits cinemas this Christmas. Aside from the samurai movie generally having an audience ceiling - Tom Cruise's The Last Samurai being the exception that proves the rule - the film is a huge gamble for affording such a large budget to first time director Carl Erik Rinsch, who was eventually pulled from the project after reshoots forced the budget to swell to $225 million. Oh, and remember that the film first started filming
over 2 years ago... Furthermore, Universal were stupid enough to cast "authentic" Japanese actors rather than ones more familiar to American audiences, further ruining its financial chances. This film has absolutely no chance of breaking even, as anyone who has seen the new trailer knows for sure...
