10 Upcoming Blockbusters Doomed To Bomb At The Box Office

Budget: $130 million Predicted Box Office: $160 million Why It's Going To Bomb: Again, this is a film that I want to believe will be a financial success, and I suppose adapting a work rooted in Christianity isn't a bad place to start, but a project of this scale is so out of director Darren Aronofsky's depth that I'm not convinced at all that he can pull it off. The director's most expensive film prior to this was The Fountain, which cost $35 million and was a financial disaster; other than that, he tends to stick to projects priced anywhere from $5 to $13 million. On the other hand, Black Swan cost $13 million and wound up grossing an astonishing $329 million, which is no doubt the reason why the director was handed such a colossal budget for this project. Still, it costs almost 4x more than the director has dealt with before, and though the cast is surely star-studded - including Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson and Ray Winstone - I'm not sure Aronofsky can live up to the hype.
