5. G.I. Joe: Retaliation
The Release Date: March 29th, 2013
What Its Got Going For It: A little help, anyone? G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra remains to my memory one of the worst blockbuster action movies Ive ever seen, with everything from Joseph Gorden-Levitt and Christopher Eccclestons pantomime foes to the pointless, atrociously-paced storyline reeking of Hasbro looking for another way to cash in on action figure adaptations after Transformers success. Indeed, that the sequel Retaliation comes directly in the break between the third and fourth Autobot movies (Transformers 4 set to mobilise in the Summer of 2014) comes as little surprise nowadays.
Why Its Already Doomed: With what Ive said above taken into account, and in addition The Rise Of Cobras poor performance in its initial 2010 release, theres really going to be very little to entice viewers back for Retaliation. Perhaps Dwayne The Rock Johnson will bring in a few more WWE fans as he did in the decent Fast Five, but the chances of that lasting for much longer than opening week are once again rather slim unless the writers bring us a surprisingly cohesive narrative (and believe me when I say the chances of that are far worse). Throw in the fact that the much-anticipated Disney Oz prequel will land in cinemas just a couple of weeks before G.I. Joe does, and its looking more and more likely that this will be one heck of a G.I. Flop once more. Therell be some entries on this list to come thatll still be worth your time, but based on past experience Id advise you veer well away from this one.
