10 Upcoming Comic Book Films That Will Probably Be Terrible

2. Deadpool

Speaking of long-awaited comic book adaptations that have been mooted for ages and are finally getting made because a huge Hollywood star tied his flag to its mast €“ that's exactly what happened with Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds has been personally petitioning Fox to make a solo film ever since the character's underwhelming X-Men Origins: Wolverine role. Thanks to the continuity reset of Days Of Future Past, his wish is finally coming true. The Deadpool film will reportedly follow suit from that leaked test footage, with Reynolds wearing the classic comic book costume, breaking the fourth wall by talking to the audience, and killing a lot of people with samurai swords. Fun! Except, well, Deadpool isn't a character who amounts to much more than €œcomedy character who kills a lot of people€. He doesn't exactly have a lot of classic storylines, and the ones that approach that are more ridiculous than the tone Fox probably wants for something that's part of their X-Men universe. So it'll probably just be a little disappointing.
