Is there anybody who's rooting for this film? David Ayer is a talented director, as proven by End Of Watch and 2014's Fury. He's managed to surround himself with a decent amount of star talent as well, between The Wolf Of Wall Street's Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, recent Oscar winner Jared Leto as The Joker, and The Fresh Prince himself as Deadshot. Despite the fans pouring over every single leaked set video, behind-the-scenes photo and official announcement, however, the reaction appears to be wholly negative. People trash the cheap-looking costumes, doubt Warner Bros will have the cajones to release a film with Suicide in the title, and will accept no Joker that isn't Heath Ledger. That's an impressive amount of negative energy to surround the film, and not a particularly great environment to work in. But there's no smoke without fire as a stand-alone film and an early building block in the DC Cinematic Universe, Suicide Squad does look like a complete mess of strange casting, plot, and ridiculous costumes. It's almost certainly going to be the worst of the upcoming comic book films, but it's the one that also has the most chance of being so-bad-it's-good. A superhero Rocky Horror Picture Show, perhaps?
