10 Upcoming Comic Book Films That Will Probably Be Terrible
9. Wytches
Batman writer Scott Snyder and elusive artist Jock's Image series had the film rights snapped up before the first issue had even hit stands. Wytches is a modern-day update of the witchy myths of old, with the likes of the Salem Witch Trials revealed to be very misguided attempts to contain an ancient species of monsters living in the woods. In Wytches, are the titular antagonists aren't green-skinned women with pointy hats and cauldrons? No, they're beings who await tributes from people who want things done. They wish for a spell to heal a chronic illness, for an enemy to be offed. In return, they pledge either themselves or another loved one to the Wytches. It's a compelling premise, if a sometimes iffy execution (a lot of it concerns a sad dad, his mean wife, and their problem child in a most cliché manner). Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment bought it, meaning the adaptation will likely be as faithful as their World War Z ie, not at all. Or else they'll outsource to a low-budget horror company and it'll be naff.
