10 Upcoming Comic Book Films That Will Probably Be Terrible

8. The Crow

Yes, a good twenty-one years on from the very first Crow movie, people are still trying to make the character into something he's not €“ which is to say, popular. James O'Barr's 1989 comic book is best known for that very first screen translation, where star Brandon (son of Bruce) Lee died of a tragic on-shot incident involving an accidental shooting. The series has never quite managed to escape that traumatic shadow, despite best efforts. Since that first film there was sequel City of Angels, short-lived TV series reboot Stairway to Heaven, nominal sequel but essentially third-remake Salvation, and finally 2005's Wicked Prayer, based on a Crow spin-off novel. Which apparently exists. The basic premise of The Crow €“ guitarist is killed and resurrected to avenge his girlfriend's death €“ isn't really strong enough to have withstood that many sequels and remakes. And yet another reboot is set for release sometime in the next year, starring The Hobbit's Luke Evans, directed by Javier Gutierrez. It will be the same as the rest of them.
