10 Upcoming Comic Book Villains Hollywood Will Probably Ruin

6. Crossbones - Captain America: Civil War

The Villain: An extremely skilled marksman who was an instrumental component of The Death of Captain America comic, in which the combined efforts of Red Skull, Crossbones and Doctor Faustus resulted in Cap's assassination and led to Bucky Barnes taking up the Captain America mantle. His transformation from S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo) to the iconic villain occurred at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where Rumlow was severely wounded when the Triskelion was destroyed. Why He'll Be Ruined: Marvel have proven with The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor: The Dark World, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Ant-Man (that's almost half their movies to date) that they have a major problem delivering compelling villains, and even when they have a gem like The Mandarin, there's no guarantee they're going to get it right. This is without even considering the fact that Civil War is an adaptation of a beloved, complex comic book that also requires the introduction of Black Panther, and so it's hard not to suspect that Crossbones, who didn't figure in the comic, may be awkwardly shoehorned in and serve as a disappointingly minimal villain. The odds are that The Death of Captain America will be included in this movie, which would at least give Crossbones his big, iconic moment, but it's also likely that he may be killed off amid all the mayhem, which of course would be majorly disappointing given the character's potential.
