10 Upcoming Film Blockbusters We've Already Given Up On

3. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Release Date: August 22, 2014 There's a good chance that Robert Rodriguez's long-awaited sequel to Sin City - which is 10 years old, by the way - will knock it out of the park and will go on to be one of the greatest follow-ups in movie history. What's more likely, however, is that this horribly belated chapter in the Sin City saga will fail to capture what made the original so great - it's uniqueness. Back when the first installment hit theatres, then, it was something of a surprise: we weren't exactly familiar with the filming techniques or the source material, after all. Is it too late for this? Has the train passed? Let's take a step back, then, before we brand this movie as one to "give up on." From what we've seen in trailers and such, A Dame To Kill For looks pretty much like what you'd expect. But the impact already seems slightly lost given the passing of time between this entry and the last. Is this a movie that anybody is all that excited about in 2014? Has too much time passed since the last installment? Fact is, most of us had already given up on the idea of another Sin City movie, and then - wham - this one comes right out of the blue. But where was this thing 8 or 9 years ago? Still, this'll probably make good money at the box office, but it's a shame to think of this as a motion picture somewhat out of time - a sequel that came a bit too late to the party. In a lot of ways, the arrival of Sin City 2 provokes feelings of frustration. It's almost annoying to find yourself not quite caring about the fact that it exists as much as you might've done in the past. Rather surprisingly, too, it looks far "cheaper" in aesthetic quality than its predecessor, with CGI resembling the likes of that featured in The Spirit (awful). Please, Frank Miller: not again.
