10 Upcoming Film Reboots Nobody Asked For

7. Weird Science

Another fantastic teen movie that sums up the '80s to people that weren't alive back (myself included). With this in mind, Weird Science still has the wacky charm and comedic delights to entertain younger people today, so why remake it? A mixed bag with critics but a box office smash, Weird Science explored potential future technologies with huge box computers creating the perfect women for two nerds that can't get any action. Original producer Joel Silver is back on board, and so is the talented writer responsible for comedy successes Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and the 21 Jump Street reboot (one of few that translated well to a modern time), Michael Bacall. With these names attached, there is hope for Weird Science. The most difficult aspect will be casting, though. Finding leads as likeable as that of Anthony Michael Hall (the epitome of geeky male teenagers of the '80s) and Ilan Mitchell-Smith will be a difficult task.
