10. The Throwaways (Noel Clarke)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMzaLh2Lnns Mickey Smith's transformation from would be 'tin dog' to Earth defender is one of the most understated character journeys of the Russell T Davies era and Noel Clarke's portrayal of Rose Tyler's long suffering boyfriend made him a fan favourite amongst the viewers who could overlook the fact he was apparently lacking a pair of balls. Nobody can forget (though Noel has probably tried to!) the moment he got splattered with Slitheen guts back in Series 1 but, as of The End of Time, he's a bonafide hero in his own right after vowing to protect the human race from alien adversaries alongside his wife, Martha Jones. Because that relationship wasn't random at all. And Noel's off screen credentials are pretty impressive, too. After winning the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2009 for his writing and directorial work on Kidulthood and its sequel, Adulthood, he has appeared in various other films including Saving Santa, 4-3-2-1 (which he also wrote and co-directed) and Star Trek Into Darkness. His most recent role is in the action hack attack thriller, The Throwaways, which tells the story of Drew Reynolds, a notorious hacker portrayed by Sam Huntington, who is captured by the CIA. It also stars Peter Brooke, James Caan and Kevin Dillon and Noel joins the ensemble as Erik Williamson who... erm, isn't in the trailer. Like, at all. The movie is available to stream online now, though, if you're interested in finding out more. Noel does show up in it eventually. Promise.
