10 Upcoming Films Starring Doctor Who Actors You Have To See
9. Bukowski (Alex Kingston)
Alex Kingston got tongues wagging (and in more ways than one!) when she was introduced as River Song in the Series 4 two-parter Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. OK, so there wasn't that much to say about back then, since nobody, including the Doctor, had any idea who the hell she even was, but she has certainly left a lasting impression - and then some - on the show's mythology since. While it's hard to believe that anybody could really maintain a stable life away from the TARDIS, Alex has been keeping herself busy away from the confines of her headache inducing, timey-wimey alter ego with roles in such shows as Arrow (also starring John Barrowman) and the ITV crime drama Chasing Shadows which aired last year. Oh, and she's also made a film which was directed by James Franco. No biggie. Bukowski, a biopic retelling the traumatic childhood years of writer Charles Bukowski and his abusive father, is set to be released later this year after production was temporally put on hold when Franco was almost sued for not having the necessary film rights. Classic Franco. The issues were eventually resolved, though, and the film stars Alex as Katherina Bukowski, Charles' mother. If that's not reason enough to see it, Charles is played by Josh Peck who readers of a certain generation will remember as Josh in Drake & Josh. So there you go.
