8. Scream 5 And The Return Of Matthew Lillard
Although Wes Craven’s passing was thought to be the death of the highly successful Scream franchise, it seems to be all systems go on a fifth entry into the series with familiar actors reprising their roles such as Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell and David Arquette.
However, one actor who fans want to see return is Matthew Lillard, who played Stu Macher in the first film. Thanks to numerous fan theories about Stu still being alive after the first film, Lillard has shown interest in the series once again as he supports these theories about Stu surviving his television based death scene.
He has recently tweeted things such as “I mean… it was just a TV? Right? You’d think he’d SURVIVE?” in reference to his character’s death in the original movie. Combined with his blink and you’ll miss it cameo in Scream 2, it seems that the internet is champing at the bit for his return to the franchise.
Lillard has reportedly stated that he’s “absolutely available” to reprise his role in the next instalment, even if it hasn’t been confirmed. Thus, it seems that all fans can do is cross their fingers and hope that another of the original stars returns for one last shot at the series.
