10 Upcoming Horror Movies That Are Already Doomed

1. Iron Lung (2026?)

Iron Lung
Mark Fischbach

An adaptation of 2022 submarine simulation horror game Iron Lung is on the way, and even those who have heard of, never mind played, the game have little to be enthusiastic about.

Set in a post-apocalyptic future in which every star and planet has vanished, a convict (presumably Mark Fischbach) is sent on a doomed mission to explore a moon’s ocean of blood using a small submarine called the Iron Lung. And if this was all we knew, it wouldn’t sound so bad.

Unfortunately, the film is directed by and starring Mark Fischbach - Markiplier from YouTube - and YouTubers don’t exactly have a strong track record in the film world. Needless to say, Fischbach is totally untested behind the camera, and is best (and perhaps only) known in the film world for starring as himself in Smosh: The Movie. This is on top of the fact that it’s not just a video game adaptation, but an adaptation of a video game in which players sit behind the controls of a sub for hours looking at dials, maps and readouts.

And the fun doesn’t stop there, because, after trailers appeared in late 2023 and an announcement was made that the film was finished in June 2024, it still hasn’t surfaced, suffering release delays including a struggle to secure a distributor.
