10 Upcoming Horror Movies That Are Already Doomed
5. Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025)
A remake of cult classic 1984 horror Silent Night, Deadly Night is well on its way, with trailers looking like it is tacking pretty close to the original, in which a mentally ill man dresses up as Santa and goes on an axe-murdering spree.
Building the film and its marketing in the mould of Terrifier, and the wake of that series' success, the Silent Night team have assumed that they can go in dry on the property and everything will be peachy. And yet, they don’t have the characters and material of the Terrifier series, or that series’ strong fanbase prior to release - it definitely won't automatically snag the original Silent Night fans as we are typically sceptical of remakes.
To make matters worse, director Mike P Nelson does not have an especially strong track record, having previously only directed two films, middling apocalyptic horror The Domestics (2018) and the 2021 Wrong Turn reboot, which did not deliver on the promise of its franchise and failed to launch a planned trilogy.
In all, this new Silent Night looks set to offer all the gore but with nothing new to add to an already thin mythology.
