Given that Pixar hasn't ever proven itself shy of producing a sequel or spin-off, it's genuinely shocking that we've gone over 15 years without even the faintest whiff of a Ratatouille follow-up.

In addition to massive acclaim and more than $620 million worldwide, Ratatouille has an enduring cultural cachet which guarantees that a legacy sequel announcement would immediately turn a lot of heads.

Considering that many of the youngsters who grew up with the film will now be themselves adults and perhaps even have kids of their own, it's basically the perfect time to return to the adventures of Remy (Patton Oswalt) and Linguini (Lou Romano).

As much as Ratatouille had a relatively closed-off ending, it'd be great to see the grand adventures the duo have been on since, even though it might require hand-waving the limited lifespan of rats.

A sequel which focused on Remy and Linguini expanding their operation, while satirising how foodie culture has changed over the last 15 years, basically writes itself.

And what with Pixar's recent period of theatrical uncertainty, a Ratatouille sequel is certainly something that'd bring audiences back out to the multiplexes.
