10 Upcoming Movie Adaptations That Prove There Is No God

7. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

There comes a time when a franchise should know when to quit - all the good ideas have already been done and, rather than simply rehashing the same old crap in a different setting the filmmakers should admit that the concept has been bled dry and move on to new pastures. Unfortunately for the Resident Evil movie franchise that time was probably after the first installment. The first film can be best described as average (if you're feeling generous) and sorely wasted its potential, given the unnerving, spine-tingling nature of the original Resident Evil video game, and what followed became increasingly detached from anything resembling Capcom's classic series as it degenerated into one stupid set-piece after another. But the box office sales kept on climbing and producer/director Paul W. S. Anderson and star/wife Mila Jovovich couldn't resist those cheques. The best news about the latest in the series is given away in the title - let's hope that it really is The Final Chapter and we can forget all about it once and for all. Who knows? In a few years perhaps someone will come along who actually grasps what makes the games so appealing and adapts it to the screen with more visual flair and brooding atmosphere.
