10 Upcoming Movie Adaptations That Prove There Is No God

5. Van Helsing

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Bram Stoker's Dracula found themselves loosely (and we mean very loosely) adapted to the big screen by way of the Universal Studios horror monster movies of the 1940s in 2004's Stephen Sommers-directed movie Van Helsing, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale. Despite being a pretty awful movie by all accounts, the box office receipts all but guaranteed we'd be seeing it back on the screens sooner or later, and sure enough the remake-of- the-homage-of-the-literary-adaptation (how's that for a mouthful?) is coming soon, this time starring Tom Cruise in the title role (will he attempt an English accent? Now that might be worth the price of admission!). The news that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are involved is enough to guarantee another hugely disappointing pile of cinematic tripe which, against all the odds, will no doubt be a huge success at the box office, thus ensuring that the infamous duo who seem to get a kick out of destroying much-loved source material will inexplicably continue to work in Hollywood. Or it could be great, but we wouldn't put money on that.
