On the back of catapulting himself into the spotlight thanks to his acclaimed work as Matthew Crawley on Downton Abbey, Dan Stevens quickly set about establishing himself as one of the most diverse thespians of his generation, equally excelling in both the super-sphere on FX's Legion and as the titular fur-ball in Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast.

Yet, even with this apparent comfort in the world of digital effects, that still doesn't offer the star too much hope when it comes to his next high-profile gig alongside the two biggest monsters in the game.

As has been the case with just about every other MonsterVerse entry up to this point, the real stars of the show will and always should be the colossal kaiju colliding in various cities and other jaw-dropping locales.

So, despite Stevens always seemingly finding a way to add something compelling to the mix, if the likes of Bryan Cranston, Sally Hawkins, and Alexander SkarsgÄrd have all struggled to live long in the memory by the time the credits have rolled in the previous Godzilla and Kong showings, what hopes does the recently cast Stevens really have of bucking the trend of uninteresting humans in Godzilla vs. Kong 2?
