10 Upcoming Movie Reboots Doomed To Fail

1. Robocop

José Padilha's reboot of the series spearheaded by Paul Verhoeven's 1987 ultraviolent classic has not had the healthiest of productions so far. Though Padilha has roped in a great cast for the project (including Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Jennifer Ehle and Jackie Earle Haley), it's difficult to see why on the basis of what's been revealed so far. Just look at the above image; how the Hell is this Robocop? It looks more like the suit from Crysis crossed with Christopher Nolan's take on the Batsuit. Though we can only take unflattering reviews of the script at face value, a report from director Fernando Meirelles, a close friend of Padilha, is more troubling; apparently most of Padilha's on-set ideas are being nixed by the studio, suggesting an unhealthy degree of meddling in what will surely be a bungled attempt to update Robocop for a new generation. The only thing left to find out is whether it will be PG-13 or R-rated. And you can probably guess what the smart money's on. Which forthcoming reboots do you think are sure to fail?
