10 Upcoming Movie Roles That Are Completely Miscast

1. Tony Montana (Diego Luna) - Scarface

Will Smith The Genie
Universal

A Scarface remake has been in the works for quite some time, but the casting of lead Tony Montana was only announced earlier this year. The coveted role went to Diego Luna, who's best known for his work as Cassian Andor in Star Wars: Rogue One.

It's hard to imagine any other actor stepping into the role that was made iconic by Al Pacino so Luna already has a lot to overcome, but he also seems out of place in the part, as though studio executives saw that he was a hot property after Rogue One and so scrambled to find him a role worthy of a rising star.

As an actor, he doesn't have that hardened exterior or diabolical attitude. He's not someone who can intimidate you; in fact, he actually seems like the type of guy who'd be great to grab a drink with. That might help him find work, but it won't help him pull off a convincing Tony Montana.

It feels like Luna was cast purely because he's one of the only big actors working today who has the right accent. He lacks that gruff, mean-spirited edge that Al Pacino is able to convey so, so well. A Scarface remake will be tricky to get right anyway - especially when gangster movies aren't really popular anymore - and it hasn't helped its chances with this casting.
