With six Paranormal Activity movies, four Insidious films and two Ouija movies to their credit Blumhouse knows how to draw blood from a stone and in an attempt to leave no stone un-wrung they’ve returned to a one-gimmick movie from 2014.

In Unfriend, a bunch of stereotypical teens – who we only see via Skype – are picked off one by one by the ghost of a bullied teen. The movie plays out in real time on a laptop, moving between different sites that fill in the necessary exposition, which is a neat idea for a short. But a whole movie? Not so much.

Blumhouse must’ve thought the premise wasn’t broke because they haven’t fixed it for this sequel, which retains all the visual gimmickry of its predecessor. So if you disagreed with the critics that called the first movie “screechy and overwrought”, here’s more of the same.
