10 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Wants
1. A New Star Wars Trilogy
Star Wars as a franchise has become something of a rollercoaster ride over the years. Even outside of the rather hit-and-miss TV shows and anthology movies, the Skywalker Saga, the very backbone of the galaxy far, far away has seen more downs than ups.
Of course, there is the iconic original trilogy, followed by the initially poorly received prequels, which are now seemingly getting their flowers more than ever, arguably thanks to the fact that episodes VII-IX were somehow received so much worse. At this point, the last thing Lucasfilm needs to do is continue the Skywalker Saga.
Both Anakin and Luke are dead, leaving the Skywalker story finished. Yes, Rey took on the Skywalker name, but hers is a story, like countless others, that should be continued and explored outside of the titles of Episodes X-XII.
Simon Kinberg, according to Deadline, has signed on with Lucasfilm to bring the next three Skywalker Saga chapters to life, though it should be noted that there is also conflicting information that these movies will instead kick off a new Saga. Hopefully it is the latter, but in an ideal world maybe Star Wars should steer clear of trilogies altogether for the time being.
