10 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Wants
7. Cliffhanger 2
Sylvester Stallone is one of the greatest action stars in the history of cinema, with some of his biggest roles ever being reprised multiple times through sequels and spin-offs. Rocky Balboa has appeared in six Rocky movies plus another two in the Creed franchise, John Rambo has made five cinematic appearances, and Sly has even played Barney Ross in four Expendables films.
One Stallone role that comes later to the sequel party is Gabe Walker. Stallone brought that character to life in Renny Harlin's 1993 outing, Cliffhanger, and after more than three decades the franchise will be expanded.
Plot details initially confirmed the story would revolve around Gabe and his daughter being thrown into a "life and death situation", and with Stallone set to star there was certainly potential for a fun return to a popular character from his past.
However, the Italian Stallion has now dropped out of the project altogether, and with him has gone the lion's share of the movie's appeal. Now based around the father/daughter combination of Pierce Brosnan and Lily James, this seemingly removes Gabe Walker from the story completely. It's still labelled as Cliffhanger 2, but with this development does the film even feel like a sequel at all?
