10 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Wants

8. Jumanji 3

Jurassic World Rebirth

When Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle released, it felt almost as much a reboot as it did a sequel. Though confirmed to be a follow-on from the classic 1995 outing starring Robin Williams, the movie brought the franchise into the modern day with a fresh new perspective.

Shifting the titular game from a board to an immersive console was a fun twist, but the real key to the movie's success was the cast. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black all gelled brilliantly and had great chemistry, and this stretched through to Jumanji: The Next Level two years later in 2019.

However, as fun as the reinvigorated franchise has been, it feels as though the second film brought things to their natural end. First, they fell into the game accidentally, then they were forced to return as part of a rescue mission. What else is there? The stories have been told, and after five years it seemed as though it had run its course, until the recent announcement that a threequel will be headed to cinemas in December 2026.

A third outing feels as though it may be a step too far for this franchise, and coming in the midst of what can only be described as a torrid spell in Dwayne Johnson's filmography, it's understandable to feel like returning once again to the game may not be the best idea in the world.
